Streamlined scheduling for Oracle Applications

Oracle Applications is a suite of business software from Oracle Corporation that includes ERP, HCM, SCM, CX and other modules. These applications manage core enterprise functions, delivered on-premises or in the cloud. Tidal’s Oracle Applications adapter integrates with these systems to allow you to automate, monitor and orchestrate job activity as part of your broader workload automation strategy.

What the adapter enables

With Tidal’s Oracle Applications adapter, you can:

  • Integrate Oracle Applications Server R12+ jobs into centralized schedules
  • Monitor jobs and request sets from the Tidal Job Activity pane
  • Track bot internal (Tidal-assigned) and external (Oracle-assigned) job IDs
  • Break request sets into individual jobs to enable request-level automation
  • Use multi-organization access (MOAC) for broader reach and fewer responsibilities

To achieve control over individual requests and to assign dependencies to a single request within a request set, break down the request set into separate requests for each job and organize the single requests into a job group in Tidal.

Multi-organization access (MOAC)

MOAC enables users to access multiple Oracle operating units under a single application responsibility.

Prior to Oracle R12, each unit required a separate login and responsibility. In R12 and later, you can configure a Security Profile and assign multiple operating units to a single responsibility.

Tidal supports MOAC configurations, allowing your automated job definitions to span multiple units, such as processing invoices across several country-specific finance units from a single Tidal-managed workflow.

How it works

The Tidal adapter connects to Oracle Applications via Net*8 (SQL*NET) and communicates with the Oracle database using standard SQL and Oracle-supplied packages.

Here’s how it functions:

  • Tidal uses custom packages — compiled into Oracle Applications — to interface with the concurrent manager
  • The adapter monitors and triggers jobs by interacting with these packages, which in turn communicate with Oracle’s internal scheduling system
  • Only standard APIs are used; no Oracle schema objects are altered or deleted
  • A bridge component links Tidal to the Oracle Applications environment and must be installed and configured during setup
  • The adapter is included with Tidal but requires an appropriate license for use

Tidal and Oracle Applications integration FAQs

  • What are Oracle applications?

Oracle Applications encompasses a wide array of software solutions designed for various business needs, broadly categorized into Oracle Fusion Applications and Oracle E-Business Suite. These applications cover areas like enterprise resource planning (ERP), human capital management (HCM), supply chain management (SCM), customer experience (CX) and more. They offer businesses tools to manage their operations, customer relationships and overall performance.

  • How does Tidal integrate with Oracle applications?

Tidal integrates with Oracle applications by acting as a central platform for workload automation, connecting to various Oracle systems like E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, and JD Edwards. This integration allows for centralized management and orchestration of scheduling activities, including Oracle jobs, without the need for extensive scripting. Tidal leverages Oracle's API and scheduler to automate and manage ERP tasks across different Oracle applications.
