Adapters Overview

The Tidal Automation Adapters for Informatica allows users to schedule Informatica jobs through the Tidal platform, enabling them to leverage its capabilities to automate, simplify and improve job scheduling and ETL performance.

We offer two Tidal Automation adapters to support Informatica’s technology stacks:

  • PowerCenter
  • Intelligent Cloud Services

With our adapters for Informatica, IT operations can add complex scheduling functions to their Informatica data pathways and consolidate multiple job routines into one centralized enterprise solution. The adapter can define, launch and monitor Informatica data workflows. It allows Informatica administrators to integrate all data pathway executions into an automated, repeatable scheduling solution that delivers a high degree of visibility and control of steps in the ETL process.

Managing Complex ETL Processes in the Enterprise

Data integration software from Informatica plays a crucial role for businesses. It links and reports on database, supply chain management, accounting, human resources and sales information. Accessing and integrating large amounts of data from sources both inside and outside the firewall, and even from within the cloud, is complex and requires many elements to work together to deliver accurate and timely information that support the right strategic decisions.

In many cases, complex data pathways and their associated moving parts break, dependencies cannot be met, networks fail, systems go offline and, without visibility into each process, reports will be incorrect, late or both. Tidal adapters for Informatics help to deliver mission-critical data to the right place at the right time for all Informatica extract, transform and load (ETL) pathways.

How the Adapters Work

Tidal’s adapters integrate into the existing embedded Informatica schedulers. The Tidal Automation platform then controls and manages the Informatica tasks within those schedulers. The adapters create an interface between Tidal’s platform and Informatica, which gives IT operations staff a robust scheduling solution for cross- platform, cross-application dependency support, real-time interaction, and centralized control of Informatica data integration, ETL and data warehouse processes.

Our adapters integrate with Informatica’s application program interfaces (APIs). Through these interfaces, the adapters communicate with Informatica  to define, run and monitor workflows.

Informica Job

  • Schedules and monitors Informatica workflows, concurrent workflows, linear and advanced taskflows from a centralized console in Tidal
  • Specifies execution parameters to override Informatica
  • Creates associations to Tidal defined variables for use as job attributes
  • Creates associations to Tidal defined dependencies and events for scheduling control
  • Applies advanced scheduling constructs such as business calendars and job factory to Informatica jobs
  • Enables email notifications for completed task flows

  • Captures FTP files from outside the firewall, e.g., data from SaaS applications or external partners
  • Creates standard Informatica data collection and ETL process templates
  • Expedites problem resolution, improves trouble ticket clearance rates, and enables IT to adhere to service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Integrates business partners and service providers into extended workflows
