The University of Calgary, located in Calgary, Alberta, is a comprehensive research university, ranked as one of Canada’s top research universities. More than 27,600 students are currently enrolled in undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs making the University the fifth largest in Canada. The University has graduated 130,000 alumni over its 42-year history, including the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper.
Much of the University’s success in serving so many students and alumni is attributable to its staff of about 2,000 people who are involved in a broad range of support services to keep University processes running smoothly for the students. In order to make human resource management more efficient, the University deployed PeopleSoft. Their homegrown administration systems had reached its limits and were in an “end-of-life” phase. PeopleSoft was chosen because it had a very good Student Administration module in addition to its HR and back office capabilities. PeopleSoft was deployed to manage student administration, human resources, finance, and supply-chain management.
"We were looking for cross-platform, cross-application support, a consolidated end-to-end view, the ability to manage dependencies easily, the ability to easily incorporate new types of systems in the future, a Web interface, and on top of all of that, ease-of-use. We believe that Tidal met those objectives."
